Change the world

PROJECT SUMMARY

This project involves the design, development and manufacturing of Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) for use in a variety of industrial applications.  AGVs are a type of mobile robot that follows predefined routes, typically following markers or tape on the floor for material handling and transport applications in industrial environments, particularly in manufacturing facilities and warehouses.

MARKET/NEED

A need for AGVs has been identified in most industries, particularly in manufacturing and automotive plants and in warehouses, but AGVs could also be employed in other industries. It is envisaged that the low-cost AGVs will be of interest to local automotive manufacturers and to medium-sized manufacturing firms.

BENEFITS

The AGVs are expected to be implemented in either larger automotive manufacturers or in medium-sized manufacturing / warehousing operations.  In both cases, the automation of material handling and transport provided would lead to reduced costs, improvements in efficiencies, and increased competitiveness.
