12/06/2024

The Innovation Office, in collaboration with the Student Governance and Development division, hosted the annual Student Entrepreneurship Week at Nelson Mandela University's George Campus from 15-17 May  2024.

This three-day workshop aimed to raise awareness about student entrepreneurship, innovation, and intellectual property, empowering student entrepreneurs with the knowledge, skills, and resources necessary to thrive in the dynamic world of entrepreneurship and innovation.

As part of the event, the Innovation Office conducted a day-long workshop on the fundamental principles of intellectual property as they relate to entrepreneurship, with a focus on the following topics:

  • Business Model Canvas: developing and refining business models for sustainable growth.
  • Prototyping and MVP Development: Introduction to rapid prototyping and minimum viable product (MVP) development.
  • Legal Essentials for Entrepreneurs: Overview of key legal considerations, such as intellectual property protection and business structures.

Additionally, the office showcased their offerings throughout the duration of the workshop.

The Innovation Office acknowledges NIPMO for their on-going support and recognition of our efforts to raise IP awareness.
