Change the world

Professor Lars Johnsson, the Director of the Technology Transfer Office at Uppsala University, Sweden, spent a week in South Africa, visiting the NMMU and CPUT.

Prof Johnsson delivered a talk in the Council Chambers (South Campus) on 30 January 2013, which was well received by an audience consisting of NMMU staff and the local business community.

His talk provided insight to the long road travelled by the Uppsala TTO in attracting disclosures and commercialising University technologies. In addition to the talk, the IS&TT staff gained significantly from the discussions of departmental processes & structures, negotiations and deal structures. He went on to Cape Town for a 2 day visit where he delivered the same talk to representatives from all the Cape Town universities. Prof Johnsson was impressed with the ‘Inventors Mug’ which the IS&TT department devised to reward NMMU Inventors. He thoroughly enjoyed his trip to South Africa and hopes to use the ‘Inventor’s mug’ concept in Uppsala.
