NMMU MBA students Mieshkah Dolley-Ryneveld (from left), Kumaree Moodley, Mary-Ann Chetty and Martin Jonker were among two groups of students who won both first and third prizes as well as two categories in the annual Industrial Development Corporation’s (IDC) Tertiary Institution Business Plan Competition.

The competition supports entrepreneurial development and is aimed at registered students at participating tertiary institutions who need to write a business plan as part of their curriculum.

Altogether 39 business plans were entered of which 16 were from MBA students representing the Business Schools of NMMU, Stellenbosch, Free State and Milpark.

By submitting a business plan, prospective entrepreneurs are exposed to real life scrutiny of their business plans by industry experts who provide extensive input into the improvement of the business plans prior to the entrepreneurs approaching a funding body says Prof Cullen, their Entrepreneurship module lecturer and guide in the competition.
